How to play Minesweeper 2.0

Use the numbers to locate hidden mines, reveal every safe tile, and build a faster solving instinct one field at a time.

Clear the field in three moves

Every puzzle is generated fresh. Your first reveal is always safe, so start anywhere and use the information around it.

1Reveal a tile

Click a covered tile to reveal what is underneath.

2Read the numbers

A number shows how many mines touch that tile, including diagonals.

3Mark and clear

Flag likely mines, then reveal every tile that is safe to win.

Remember the win condition

You do not need to flag every mine. You win when all non-mine tiles have been revealed.

Controls

Play with a mouse, keyboard, or touch device. On touch screens, use the tile action controls supported by your browser.

Common questions

What does each number mean?

The number is the total count of mines in the eight surrounding positions. A diagonal tile counts as a neighbor too.

What happens when I flag a tile?

Flags help you keep track of suspected mines and reduce the Mines Left counter. They do not have to be correct unless you want to use them as a solving aid.

Can I change difficulty during a game?

Yes. Select Beginner, Intermediate, or Expert from the difficulty menu. Changing difficulty starts a new puzzle.

How are leaderboard times recorded?

Completed games are ranked by clear time and difficulty. Faster times appear higher on the corresponding leaderboard.
